Introduction: In this week, we’ll be introducing the fundamentals of UI design. We’ll explore what UI design is, its importance in product development, and the key principles and elements of good UI design.

• User Interface Design vs User Experience Design
• The Product Development Lifecyle
• The role of UI Design in product development
• Types of UI Design

Lesson 2: Elements of UI Design

• Visual Design (Layout, Color, Typography, Icons)
• Interaction Design (Buttons, Navigation, Forms)
• Information Architecture (Organization, Hierarchy, Navigation)

Lesson 3: UI Design Principles

• The 8 UI Design principles: Affordance, Signifiers, Feedback, Mapping, Constraints, Consistency, Hick’s Law, and Fitts’ Law
• Examples of good and bad UI Design
• Case studies of successful UI Design

Lesson 4: Basic Visual Design Principles:

• Color theory and color psychology
• Typography: font families, sizes, weights, and spacing
• Layout and grid systems
• Hierarchy and visual contrast
• Learn how to use Canva to design digital assets {beginner level}

Lesson 5: Assistive Technologies in UI Design

• Understand the importance of designing for assistive technologies in UI

Assignments:

UI Design Analysis Project

1. Choose a product or website and analyze its UI design
2. Evaluate the visual design, interaction design, and information architecture
3. Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions
