FAQs
*Q1:How much i’m I paying to attend all the trainings?*
Answer: None. Just registration fee at N5000. All other fees are optional- shirts, certificates, mentored sessions etc. You are allowed to choose up to 3 courses.
Deadline for payment is on August 15 on first come first serve basis.
*Q2.What is the time frame for the training?*
 Hour Of Code sessions + Hackathon will run for two days from 9am till 5pm. A schedule for the courses will be shared much later. Those subscribing for IOTWomen Academy will continue trainings at our hub.
*Q3:Is the Tech4her certificate for attendance, or based on performance during the event ?*
– Tech4her Certificate is issued based on attendance and performance. For each module, there are tests to be written.
– And you can receive Tech4her Certification for any of the modules you are taking; GSC101A etc
– Tests will be written at the 2days training,
– Note: Tech4her Certification is  issued at a subsidized cost (N5000).
 
*Q4. Are classes for beginners, intermediates or experts?*
– The Hour Of Code Sessions are both for beginners and intermediates.
– You can explore further by subscribing for the IOTWomen option
 
*Q5. What happens after the training? Any follow-ups? Any benefits?*
– Exceptional graduates from our Academy are assigned to one of Tech4her’s startup project. In 2018, 4 members  of our alumni network led by the founder, Mrs Elizabeth Edwards won the Silicon Valley’s AngelHack competition- https://www.tech4herafrica.com/2018/08/30/tech4her-africa-won-the-silicon-valleys-angelhack-competition-2018-hosted-at-impact-hub-lagos/
– Graduates of our previous cohorts in 2018 are now members of our Alumni Network- Her Code Nework (https://hcn.tech4herafrica.com) .
– They have access to internships/job opportunities from our partners e.g MEST Africa, Microsoft, IBM and other benefits.
– We post from time to time code challenges with prizes on Her Code Network.
– You can meet other fellow female developers like you on our Her Code Network (hcn.tech4herafrica.com) to always inspire and make you a better developer.
– You can take part in our Code Coffee event yearly where our alumni network meet with recruit companies and investors https://tech4herafrica.com/codecoffee
 
*Q6. Will I get  job with the certificates issues at the training ?*
Getting a certification can boost your chances of getting a job.
*Q7. Do I have to be computer savvy to qualify to be trained?*
You don’t have to. But you need to be determined. You can start with the Introduction to programming + Software Development and Introduction to Machine learning. You can also take the HTML/CSS course too.
 
*Q8: Why am i paying for Tech4her’s certificate? Thought it’s free!*
Answer:  Training is free but some other benefits will have to be covered by the participants e.g registration, certification, Tshirts etc.
*Q9: Are the fees for registration and branded shirt/badges different?*
Answer: Yes. Branded shirt not compulsory but recommended.
*Q10: Why can’t i pay at the venue?*
We need to plan adequately for the event as we have a large number of participants registered. Also we will share resources ahead of the classes.
*Q11: Do i have to pay for the options ahead too- e.g Tshirt, Mentored Sessions, Certificates.*
Yes we need to make adequate preparation ahead to ensure you get all that you booked for. T-shirt will be given out at the event for those who booked ahead. Deadline for payment for these other options is on August 31.
*Q12: Are we going to get class notes if we don’t pay for printed handouts?*
Everyone will have access to read the notes online and some of it will also be downloadable. Those who pay for printed copies will have both.
 
*Q13: What is the curriculum for the courses like?!*
Others will be added soon.
*Q14: What is the curriculum for – Microsoft Digital Expert Certification and Google Web Designer Certification like?*
Microsoft Digital Expert Certification is based on Microsoft’s curriculum for digital experts. You will learn how to use all the Microsoft Office Apps, Computer and Networking knowledge.
– The Google Web Designer Course is also based on Google’s curriculum for web designers. You will learn how to design and publish digital ads on Google Ad network. You’ll also cover Digital Marketing themes from search to text to display to video to shopping advertising.
 
*Q15: How many courses can we take?*
You are able to choose any 2 courses from Hour Of Code Session. The GSC101A – Introduction to Programming + Software fundamentals is available for everyone.
